Garcia on Tuesday, January 5, an unidentified cab driver, whose vehicle plate number is UWB666, was caught on camera threatening female passengers from SM North EDSA on their way to POEA in Mandaluyong City.<br /><br />According to Garcia, the driver initially charged a P250 fixed fare. Garcia refused to accept his offer insisting that she would pay based on metered rate. When they reached POEA, Garcia gave the driver P200 expecting a P50 change. To Garcia’s surprise, the driver began violently shouting and cursing at her when she was asked for her change.<br /><br />Although the taxi meter only registered P140, the driver stressed that Garcia should pay him P350. The driver, who refused to give their change, repeatedly cursed on Garcia and her companion and even threatened to hurt them if they wouldn’t alight the taxi.<br /><br />When the driver noticed that Garcia was taking his video, he allegedly hurt her prompting them to get off the taxi. USTET results for AY 2016-2017 release is on March 15, 2016 - UST

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">The Catholic institution University of Santo Tomas (UST) Office for Admissions (OFAD) in a statement on their website said that official release date of USTET (UST Entrance Test) results for Academic Year AY 2016-2017 is on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. The remaining 60 percent will come from USTET results.<br /><br />To avoid problems in the release of USTET results, UST advised takers to forward the complete set of documents to the OFAD personally or through any courier service.<br /><br />The premier university also said that passing the USTET is not the sole basis for admission to some strands (freshmen). A second screening is required by the Conservatory of Music in the form of an audition and an artwork rendition for the College of Architecture.<br /><br />For AY 2016-2017, the target release date of results is late by several weeks as compared to the previous years. For this year USTET results, it is also expected that the complete list of passers will be posted at the UST campus after a day the results were released online.<br /><br />Note: Link to UST Admission results page portal will be available here once results are out online.<br /><br />In December last year, UST said it will open 7 more programs for AY 2016- 2017 applicants: BS Biology, BS Biochemistry, BS Psychology, AB Journalism, AB Legal Management, AB Economics and BS Nursing. <br /><br />Applicants may change their priority or alternative programs by submitting a letter of request, personally or by courier, on or before Jan. 15, 2016, the admissions office said.<br /><br />This brings to 20 the total number of programs to be offered next academic year, the start of the transition to the K to 12 basic education scheme that has forced colleges and universities nationwide to shut down or cut their degree offerings.<br /><br />The institution expects freshman enrollment to go down drastically next year as high school students will spend two more years in secondary education, or Grades 11 and 12, instead of going to college.<br /><br />UST is one of the best education institutions in the Philippines and the largest Catholic University in the World in terms of student population in a single campus. The controversial post, which has amassed more than 1,500 shares as of this writing, has sparked outrage among several Filipinos on social media.<br /><br />In the video, Wurtzbach’s life-size dummy clad in blue gown, a Philippine sash and a made-up crown was set to fire in the middle of a street. The smirks and laughs of the staff and cameramen as she says curse words are in my memory. You don’t know how much respect people give to that “extra” you cursed and humiliated.)<br /><br />Campomanes, a University of the Philippines educator and historian, filed a complaint addressed to ABS-CBN broadcast head Ma. Socorro V. Vidanes on October 22, 2014. He urged the network giant to take disciplinary actions against Molina, a certain Jeng and talent coordinator John Leonardo, who took Camponanes as a substitute actor.<br /><br />In the letter of complaint, Campomanes detailed how Molina verbally abused after he failed to follow the instructions she gave him during the first day of taping. The first-time actor claimed that he was “denigrated” by Molina during the second day of taping after he committed errors in blocking. <br /><br />“I was verbally abused. ‘P*tang *na! Ang hirap turuan!’ ‘K*nang *na!’ ‘P*ksh*t ka, Makoy!’ At that point, I remember Joey Marquez spared me from further humiliation by coaching me on how to position my body for that particular scene. I believe he was uncomfortable seeing me endure all those hurtful remarks, aware as he was that his daughter Winwyn was my student in San Beda. As a matter of prudence, I struggled to maintain my composure. I did not want to engage a woman who is almost as old as my parents in a shouting match. I am the better person. I was raised well by my parents. I was formed well by my teachers. I am an educator. It was reported that the crime committed in April 2010 originated from a rental dispute.<br /><br />DFA spokesperson Charles Jose told Rappler in a text message: “The Philippine government has undertaken and exhausted all diplomatic and legal efforts, and extended consular and legal assistance to preserve the life of Mr Zapanta. The Philippine government provided the late Mr Zapanta all necessary assistance and ensured that his legal rights were observed throughout the whole judicial process.”<br /><br />From November 28 to December 2, in March 2013 and in November 2012, the government “arranged and funded the jail visits” of Zapanta’s mother and sister to the Malaz Central Prison.<br /><br />Zapanta’s family including his father, mother, sister and two children will continue to  receive assistance from the government.<br /><br /><b>Zapanta’s remains will not be repatriated </b><br /><br />In an interview with radio dzBB, Jose revealed that Zapanta’s body was immediately buried following the execution as it is a common practice of the Saudi government. Zapanta had converted to Islam years ago and such practice is also in accordance with the Islam burial tradition.<br /><br />Although the DFA informed Zapanta’s family that he could be executed anytime, the Philippine government was not informed about the exact date and time of the convicted Filipino’s execution. <br /><br />A report by dzBB divulged that the government failed to raise the P48 million blood money demanded by the Riyadh court in order to save Zapanta’s life. Photo: Facebook/Alan <span style="font-size: 12.8px;">Cayetano</span></td></tr></tbody></table>Speaking in his Sunday television program, Gikan sa masa, para sa masa, Duterte said the drug problem in the country has worsened to such a degree that it has become a threat to national security.<br /><br />"In some places in the country, the drug menace has become so bad that drug users have resorted to paying for drugs not with cash but with goats and livestock," Duterte said.<br /><br />The tough-talking mayor said he will not hesitate to use the military and the police and exercise the extraordinary powers of the president to stop the country's drug problem. "In three to six months, everything has to stop. Corruption, drug, criminality. You are oppressing the Filipinos, and I hate it," Duterte said, referring to criminals.<br /><br />For his part, Cayetano said they have a comprehensive plan and stategy as well as the political will to win the war against drugs. Part of the strategy is the dual task of disciplining and improving the salaries and benefits of the police/Law enforcers.<br /><br />"Under a Duterte-Cayetano government, minimum take home pay for law enforcers will be at P 50-60 thousand plus allowances. We will also impose harsh punishment for 'banta salakay' law enforcers. We will leave no excuses for corruption nor sleeping on the job," Cayetano said.<br /><br />Cayetano said they received reports that big drug syndicates based in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao have linked up to put up a united front against their electoral campaign.<br /><br />"We will not be cowed. We will hit them where it hurts the most. We will strike at the belly of the beast. We will bring the war to their doorsteps," Cayetano quoting Duterte.<br /><br />"For the sake of our families' safety and the future of our children, Mayor Duterte and I will end this social menace. Hindi na pwede ang pateka teka. Sawa na tayo sa pamedya medya. Panahon na para sa matapang na solusyon at mabilis na aksyon laban sa salot na droga sa ating bansa. To our growing supporters, stay calm. Change is coming," Cayetano ended.<br /><br />Before Duterte entered the political picture, the issue of illegal drugs was not in the front and center of the electoral agenda. Grace Poe;Orals on Jan 19, 2016, 2 pm. <a href="https://t.co/YUbiWobCNT" rel="nofollow">pic.twitter.com/YUbiWobCNT</a></div>— SC PIO (Official) (@SCPh_PIO) <a href="https://twitter.com/SCPh_PIO/status/681400537472827392" rel="nofollow">December 28, 2015</a></blockquote><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script></center><br />The petition for certiorari with prayer for the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the poll body's ruling was filed by Poe's lawyer, George Garcia also on Monday. <br /><br />"The Supreme Court has the sole authority to decide on questions of qualification, and to uphold with finality the people's right to choose the nation's leader," Poe, the leading candidate for President, said.<br /><br />"I am optimistic that the high court, or Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, herself, will not only act expeditiously, but positively on the case to grant the temporary restraining order we are seeking," she added.<br /><br />The Supreme Court is on recess until January 10, but its rules allow the Chief Justice to act on urgent cases without holding a session of the justices.<br /><br />The SC has set Poe's petitions for oral arguments on January 19.<br /><br />"I am putting my fate in the hands of the Supreme Court. We remain confident that our Justices will protect the rights of foundlings like me to run for public office. We enjoin the public to keep a keen eye on the proceedings and the decision on the case," Poe said.<br /><br />"My lawyers have put forward strong evidence, relevant court discussions and principles, and jurisprudence that would show that I am a natural born Filipino with at least 10 years' residency in the Philippines," she added.<br /><br />Last December 23, the COMELEC en banc granted the four petitions seeking to disqualify Poe from the presidential race. The poll body gave Poe's camp five days to seek relief from the Supreme Court.<br /><br />Poe's name will remain in the ballot, according to the COMELEC, as the disqualification process has not run its full course.<br /><br />"My hopes are high that what would be forthcoming is the high court's prompt correction of the COMELEC's ruling, which would affirm my standing as a candidate for President in May 2016," she said.</div>
