Aquino made Binay as the Chairman of the Housing Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and Presidential Adviser for OFW Concerns respectively until June of last year when Binay finally cut his ties with the administration, accusing some people in the administration of destroying his character through various allegations of graft and corruption involving him and his family.<br /><br />11. We remain confident that our Justices will protect the rights of foundlings like me to run for public office. We enjoin the public to keep a keen eye on the proceedings and the decision on the case," Poe said.<br /><br />"My lawyers have put forward strong evidence, relevant court discussions and principles, and jurisprudence that would show that I am a natural born Filipino with at least 10 years' residency in the Philippines," she added.<br /><br />Last December 23, the COMELEC en banc granted the four petitions seeking to disqualify Poe from the presidential race. The poll body gave Poe's camp five days to seek relief from the Supreme Court.<br /><br />Poe's name will remain in the ballot, according to the COMELEC, as the disqualification process has not run its full course.<br /><br />"My hopes are high that what would be forthcoming is the high court's prompt correction of the COMELEC's ruling, which would affirm my standing as a candidate for President in May 2016," she said.</div>

On Monday (December 14), former DILG secretary Mar Roxas lashed out against Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte against the allegation of the latter that Roxas is not truly a Wharton graduate as what he claims to be.<br /><br /><b>Slap me or I’ll slap you.</b><br /><br />Roxas wasn’t able to get hold of his emotions during the interview and further spoke about the issue thrown at him by Duterte.<br /><br />"Ganito, magsampalan kami. Kung hindi totoo ang Wharton degree ko, sampalin mo ako. Hindi ako iiwas o iilag. Pero kung totoo ‘yung Wharton degree ko, sasampalin kita," Roxas said.<br /><br />[Rough translation: We’ll slap each other. If my Wharton degree is a fake, slap me. I won’t dodge. But if my Wharton degree is true, I’ll be the one to slap you.]<br /><br /><br /><b>Duterte annoyed on Roxas claim that Davao City’s peacefulness is just a ‘myth’</b><br /><br />“You claim to have graduated from Wharton School of Economics. That is a myth. You did not graduate [from] Wharton, Mr. Roxas. Wala doon sa listahan na ikaw naka-kumpleto ng 4 years or 5 years for a degree,” Duterte pertaining to Roxas’ Wharton degree.<br /><br />The latest word war to erupt among the two mentioned presidential candidates was ignited when Roxas made a statement last week about the ‘myth’ of Davao City being the most peaceful and organized city in the archipelago. Duterte was certainly irked with that statement which prompted him to hit Roxas by saying “pag-magkita kami sa isang kanto dito sa kampanya, sampalin ko yang gagong yan.” Duterte announced that the famed Wharton degree that Roxas earned at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States is fictitious. For Duterte it doesn’t exist and Roxas cannot prove it.<br /><br />Prior to that, Duterte accused the camp of Roxas a few months ago for spreading malicious rumors that he is suffering from a throat cancer.<br /><br /><b>Roxas, a genuine Wharton graduate</b><br /><br />Amidst the controversy, Mar Roxas claims that his academic stint at Wharton School of Business is genuine. Worked in ALL three branches of the government.</b><br /><br />She worked as Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs and as Agrarian Reform Secretary under the Cory Aquino administration. Miriam originally wanted to become a nun, then as a writer.</b><br /><br />At a young age, all she wanted was to become a nun because that seems to be the vogue calling at that time for young girls and that she has been taught by nuns during her childhood until she started to realize that she has to take a higher responsibility of helping her parents to raise her other siblings being the eldest of seven kids. Later on Santiago will dream next of becoming a writer but was discouraged by her father and insisted for her to become a lawyer.
