This is one of the few times that a star power was pivotal when it comes to a film’s success as having two familiar faces makes it’s more outrageous aspect an easier sell. Sure, “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” oftentimes cross the fence when it comes to reality and campy ridiculousness, but throughout its course, it was able to maintain the core of its story, which is still rooted on real-world situations and experienced by some of us.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />Lana’s approach on the tricky LGBTQ aspect of the story is both fun but non-fictional. More importantly, not in a way that is a blatant insult to members of that community, and the relationships they have. While it’s true that in the end, Gary and Felix’s technically sinful bond (not because of their sexual orientation but because they are married to other people) is the movie’s central plot device that kicks off the events that follows, it is handled in a way that is both fun and still sensitive to those who find themselves in the same hot spot. <br /><br />Despite the different twist in the cheating narrative, “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” was able to execute its plot points and even script in a way that it’s not alienating other people who may not be in the exact same situation, but can relate to the predicament. She was the daughter of Makusog (the strong one), chief of the tribe.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />One day, Daragang Magayon was strolling near the river and stumbled on a rock. She fell into the water and was immediately swept by the current. Fortunately, her cries for help were answered by Pangaronon (the proud one) and his bodyguard Amihan (the cold one). Pangaronon didn’t waste time and jumped into the river. <br /><br />When Pangaronon finally saved the beautiful Daragang Magayon, the maiden asked how can she repay him. But Pangaronon was already captivated by her beauty and knew she was the perfect woman for him.<br /><br />Daragang Magayon didn’t object when Panganoron asked Makusog’s permission to marry her because she also instantly fell in love with the galiant man.<br /><br />But sadly, Makusog could not permit them to marry. Tribal law forbade marriage outside of the clan. As tribe leader he was left with no choice.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Patuga (the eruptive one) the ardent suitor of Daragang Mayon heard about the intentions of Panganoron. This angered him so much that they kidnapped Makusog. Patuga then forced Daragang Magayon to marry him or less her father will die. To avenge his love, a violent war broke out between the two tribes.<br /><br />Panganoron fatally struck Patuga killing him. However, a poisoned arrow was shot on Daragang Magayon’s breast. The torn lovers held each other as Daragang Magayon was dying. They believe that Panganoron is the cloud that patiently hovers the beautiful mountain. They say that when Mayon is aggressive and is about to erupt, that is when Patuga is challenging Panganoron. But when Mayon is calm, you can see the soft clouds embracing her.
