Liew scored 5 more points to cut the Gilas’ margin to just 3, 15-12 after the first 10 minutes of the game.<br /><br />High-flyer Kobe Paras who played excellent basketball in the last 2 games started the 2nd period with a breakaway tomahawk dunk followed by an acrobatic layup to increase Philippines’ lead to 20. <br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />Singapore’s superstar, Wong Wei Long took over the scoring chores and initiated his team’s comeback and made Gilas scoreless in the last 4 minutes. <br /><br />Philippines’ shooting percentage drastically went down even from the charity stripes. Coach Jong Uichico wasn’t happy on his team’s 2nd quarter performance as he called a mandatory time out after Singapore caught up 22-21.<br /><br />Team Captain Kiefer Ravena broke the ice as he scored an and-one to wakeup Gilas from a long hibernation. Big men Troy Rosario and Christian Standhardinger dropped more points and ended the 1st half with a decent 32-24 lead.<br /><br />Coach Jong Uichico was obviously threatened by Singapore’s scoring run in the 1st half. So he fielded in his 2 top long bombers Baser Amer and Von Pessumal to start the 3rd quarter. However, it was the Fil-German, Christian Standhardinger who exploded in the third to extend the lead to 15.<br /><br />Gilas’ lead was once again brought down to a single digit through the efforts of Leon Kwek and John Ng. Kwek became a major problem for Team Philippines as he continued to drain more baskets whether from the inside or from the outside and managed to trim the lead 49-42 as the penultimate quarter closed.<br /><br />Miscues and turnovers hurt Philippines too much as the nationals began their final push in the final quarter. Singapore on the other hand was blessed with multiple open and unguarded shots to close the gap 51-46 with 7:57 remaining in the game clock.<br /><br />If there was one thing missing in this game for Gilas Pilipinas, it was its three point shooting prowess. Philippines made only 2 three pointers out of 19 attempts in the last 35 minutes. <br /><br />Mike Tolomia ended the three point drought at the 4:10 mark of the fourth to escalate Gilas’ lead to 12. Tolomia was eventually Philippines’ hero of the last quarter.<br /><br />Less than a minute to go and Philippines led Singapore by 8, 64-56. Baser Amer made it a double-digit lead as he made 2 for 2 at the foul line to secure the first finals spot. <br /><br />Singapore however didn’t go down without swinging and still poured some good shots to lower the margin during the dying seconds of the ballgame.<br /><br />At the final buzzer of the game, Philippines marches to the finals, 68-60.<br /><br />Gilas Pilipinas now awaits the winner of Thailand vs Indonesia semis showdown as of publishing time. At around 1 am on August 20, Dindo unknowingly dropped his money while taking his phone out of his pocket. He then proceeded inside a McDonald’s branch in Sta. Maria, Bulacan to order food for his family.<br /><br />But before he could even place his order,  Andrey called him to tell him that he actually dropped his money amounting to P7,000. Such amount could have tempted anyone, but Andrey said he didn’t have second thoughts on returning it for the simple reason that it wasn’t his money.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />To reward his honesty, Dindo gave Andrey cash, which the latter would give his mother. When the police arrived at the scene, they confronted him but Bartolome allegedly drew his .45 caliber pistol.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />Threatened by Bartolome’s actions whom they thought was a gunman, the two policemen fired shots at him resulting to his instantaneous death.<br /><br />Pagadian Express News by Jesrel Himang  reported that Bartolome’s wife claimed that her husband was traveling from the battleground of Marawi City to their home when he decided to alight in the said location because he couldn’t figure out his way. His wife disclosed that Bartolome seemed out of his mind at the time he called her. <br /><br />Many netizens believe that Bartolome was just traumatized from the war in Marawi City prompting him draw his gun. Salvador, a 39-year-old man with disability, sells buko salad and ice candy in order to earn a living and even send himself to school.<br /><br />In a viral Facebook post Maryjane Mayo Zosa, she revealed that she often encounters Salvador, who lives in Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City, peddling products everyday to earn an honest living. Despite having a disability, Salvador not only supports himself but is also chasing his dreams by going to school. Yun ang motibo na naghanap talaga ako ng 1971,” </i>Roel revealed.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />Upon learning that the coin will bring him fortune, Roel, a buyer and seller of old coins, decided to look for it. In 2015, he was able to purchase this type of coin for P10,000.<br /><br />Roel’s cousin John, not his real name, served as the middle man for transactions. Although many expressed interest in buying the coin, no one really bought it. Most of them only took pictures of the coin.<br /><br />The cousins believe that they had been used people who posed as buyers who used the photos to scam other people.<br /><b><br /></b> <b>Real or fantasy?</b><br /><br />In order to verify if the rare P1 coin really exists, the staff of KMJS consulted several experts. <br /><br />Boyet Manuel of the Philippine Numismatic and Antiquarian Society believes that the P1 coin owned by Roel has been manipulated as it is thinner compared to regular coins issued in 1972 and 1974. He believes that the coin was just made by a medal maker.<br /><br /><i>“Ang orihinal supposed to be nakalagay ang seal ng Republika ng Pilipinas, nakalagay yung katagang Bangko Sentral, nakalagay yung date sa pagitan ng Bangko Sentral. Sayo nakalagay yung tinatawag nateng Noli Me Tangere, which is yung librong sinulat ni Jose Rizal,”</i> Manuel explained.  <br /><br />Meanwhile, Maja Gratia Malic, Deputy Director of Currency Issue and Integrity Office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) verified that such coin wasn’t issued by the BSP.<br /><i><br /></i> <i>“Sa record ng Bangko Sentral wala tayong maipakita na ito ay nanggaling sa Bangko Sentral. I can’t find it sa aming website, wala din sa aming collection, wala din sa money museum namin. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">PEURTO PRINCESA, Philippines - The proposed Nickelodeon underwater theme park in Coron will no longer materialize as Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) revealed that it will no longer pursue the construction of said tourism infrastructure.<br /><br />On Tuesday, August 22, VIMN said in a press statement that it will “discontinue the IP licensing agreement” of the proposed project. In fact, several environmental, conservation, civil society organizations as well as the Tagbanua Tribes of Coron Island Association, Incorporated (TTCIA) highly opposed the planned artificial attraction. <br /><br />Moreover, several environmentalists gathered more than 263,000 signatures in an online petition against the undersea park.<br /><br />Just a month ago, Greenpeace Philippines urged VIMN to drop the project and end its partnership with project developer Coral World Park (CWP). The Thais, bolstered by ABL superstar Tyler Lamb, looked tougher and sharper in paper at least with an ultimate goal to dethrone SEA powerhouse, Philippines.<br /><br />Basketball analysts say that Philippines has already found its match with Tyler Lamb on Thailand’s roster. Standhardinger helped the team posted a double-digit lead after the first ten minutes of the game, 22-12.<br /><br />2nd quarter didn’t go as planned for Team Philippines as the nationals were outrebounded defensively by the Thais. <br /><br />Midway of the second, the crowd went frenzy as Kobe Paras checked-in. The arena was filled by “Kobe, Kobe” chant and even got louder as the young Paras made an emphatic block as he announced his entry. <br /><br />Thailand immediately recovered and managed to cut the lead from as high as 13 to just 6 points. Tyler Lamb however got cold again and missed multiple shot attempts. Bobby Parks Jr. made it harder for Lamb to hold the ball and put some terrific stoppages on the Thai.<br /><br />Ananti’s long shot and put back stole the lead from Philippines and shifted the momentum to Thailand. Christian Standhardinger’s charities from the line however promptly snatched the advantage back from the Thais until the end of the 1st half, 36-34.<br /><br />Kiefer Ravena and Troy Rosario opened up the 2nd half strong for Philippines. Likewise, Tyler Lamb started to connect from all angles that gave Thailand the lead once again, 46-45 with 4:30 remaining in the third.<br /><br />Both teams’ big men battled it all out during the dying minutes of the 3rd period. Troy Rosario went toe-to-toe against Thailand’s Klahan under the rim. <br /><br />Philippines hung on a 1-point 60-59 as the third canto wrapped-up.<br /><br />Rebounding was still Gilas Pilipinas’ problem as the final quarter unfolded plus poor free throw shooting. Standhardinger alone missed 6 straight foul shots that could have given Philippines a better margin. Tyler Lamb tied the game anew, 62 all with over 7 minutes left in the ball game.<br /><br />Tyler Lamb’s superb basketball performance came to an end as he obtained his 5th and last personal foul after hacking Bobby Ray Parks. Jr. off a turnover. Lamb posted a game high 17 markers prior to fouling out.<br /><br />Thailand held the lead for over 5 minutes of the game until Bobby Ray Parks. Jr and Kiefer Ravena completed their free throws off excellent defensive stops. 73-71 in favor of Gilas Pilipinas with under 3:23 left in the game.<br /><br />Christian Standhardinger delivered the insurance basket for Philippines 79-74 with 40 ticks remaining in the ballgame. According to the police, Kian resisted authorities and apparently fired at them. However, witnesses claim and several CCTV footages showed that Kian was unarmed and was pleading for his life. <br /><br />The police also alleged that two sachets of shabu and a caliber .45 was found in Kian’s possession.<br /><br />On Sunday, August 20, PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa claimed that Kian was a drug courier for his own father and some of his uncles. Although he was dismayed with the outcome of the operation, Dela Rosa insisted that the operation itself was legitimate since there was basis for allegations that Kian was involved in illegal drug trade.<br /><br /><i>"Si Kian ay ginagamit ng kanyang ama. Ang ama niya mismo ang user, mga uncle ang mga pusher diyan at ginagamit si Kian na courier.
