MANILA, Philippines - Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's visit at the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (UPLB) on Friday, March 11, became controversial as some reports say a student allegedly disrespected the presidential candidate during the forum.

Stephen Silva asks Duterte UPLB

UPLB student named Stephen Villena asked Mayor Duterte why the guns of the Army [in Davao] look better than the rest of the soldiers he saw around the country and will it affect the national budget specially the education share if he won the presidential race.

The discussion heats up as Villena was not satisfied to Duterte's answer on which the latter recalled the bombing incidents in the city few years ago instead of giving direct answer.

"Sana paki-sagot nalang po ng deretso kasi nagtatanong po kami ng deretso dito para makauwi narin kayo," the student said.

Duterte then clarified his priority is still education and not the Defense.

"Kung gusto ninyo, ganun lang pala, eh di bomba nalang," the Mayor joked.

The video of the incident went viral online earning mixed reactions from netizens:

After the forum, the presidential candidate of the PDP-Laban said some questions were "a bit silly."

"I was about to tell him you do not have be a smart aleck," he said.

"We do not supply the arms of the Army. It's the Armed Forces of the Philippines [which does that]. They are just deployed in the city by the Armed Forces, by the contingencies of the moment. We have nothing to do with the army of anyone here... Ayaw ko namang hiyain."

Meanwhile, some students expressed disappointment that the presidential bet Rodrigo Duterte answered just four questions during a forum. The mayor said he needs to leave because the chopper waiting for him can only travel before sunset.
