MANILA, Philippines - The low pressure area (LPA) south southwest of Masbate City, Masbate has developed into a tropical depression and was named "Ramil," state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 5:00 a.m. update on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, a regular holiday for All Saint's Day (Undas).
At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression "Ramil" was estimated based on all available data at 115 km West of Roxas City, Capiz (11.7 °N, 121.7 °E).
'Bagyong Ramil' has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It is forecast to move West at 20 kph.
Forecast Positions:
Tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) No. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) was raised over three areas: Northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands (Luzon); Aklan and Antique (Visayas).
'Bagyong Ramil' is expected to traverse the Calamian Group of Island today. Residents under TCWS #1 including Metro Manila, Bicol region, CALABARZON, rest of MIMAROPA are advised to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
PAGASA added that the estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to occasionally heavy rains within the 200 km diameter of the tropical depression.
The weather central advised that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon.
