MANILA, Philippines - 'Bagyong Paolo' (international name: Lan) has maintained its strength as it moves north northwestward over the Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 11:00 a.m. update on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

At 10:00 a.m. today, the eye of Typhoon Paolo was located based on all available data at 945 km East of Infanta, Quezon (15.5 °N, 130.4 °E).

'Bagyong Paolo' has maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 15 kph.

The estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 1100 km diameter of the Typhoon.

'Paolo' is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sunday morning, October 22.

Meanwhile, at 10:00 a.m. today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 150 km Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (10.5°N, 117.6°E).

The new weather system, along with the outer rainbands of "Paolo" and the southwesterly windflow enhanced by this Typhoon will bring scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over Palawan, Bicol region, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and ARMM. Residents in these areas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
