MANILA, Philippines- Fast food giant McDonald’s has issued a warning against people grabbing credit for their “National Breakfast Day” promo. Apparently, a political candidate from Marikina City has allegedly taken advantage of the promo.

On Thursday, March 11, McDonald’s issued an advisory on its social media pages along with a photo of a certain Ferdie Marco, who is a candidate for councilor in the first district of Marikina City.

“This is to inform the public that National Breakfast Day is a promotion solely organized by McDonald’s Philippines and is not sponsored by any other organization or individual. Please be advised,” the advisory reads.

It turns out, a promotional poster featuring McDonald’s promo and Marco’s face was shared on the political aspirant’s Facebook page.

Kita-kits tayo para sa libre kong pa-almusal. 6 to 7 am lang ha…agahan nyo mga ka fb.”

(Because I love you, I’ll treat you with free Mcmuffins at McDonald’s on March 14, 2016 beginning 6 am until 7 am. You can claim your free Mcmuffins in any McDonald’s outlet all over the Philippines, just mention my name. That’s how much I love you, save the date! See you there for the free breakfast. The controversial post has been deleted since then but netizens were able to take a screenshot of the “fake promo”.
