MANILA, Philippines - Comedian AiAi delas Alas is in hot water today after the controversial statement claiming her film “My Bebe Love: #Kiligpamore” as the real number 1 in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) box-office ranking and the alleged cheating behind Star Cinema claims of supremacy for "Beauty and the Bestie."
“In our hearts, sa puso ng Aldub Nation, sa puso ng sambayanang Pilipino, No. 1 kami, kasi lahat ng ginagawa namin walang daya," AiAi said on Monday night during the press conference in Los Angeles for the screening of their film in California and Texas.
"Kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila, ilalaban ko nang patayan, itataga ko sa bato, kami po ang No. 1."
"Ayaw ni Lord ang nangdadaya. Karma is a bitch,” she added refuting claims of Star Cinema saying its MMFF entry “Beauty and the Bestie” reached the top spot as the festival entered its second week.
On Instagram, AiAi also shared: "I'd rather be honest than impressive. Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people. #Lamkona at #HonestyIsTheBestPolicy."
She also replied in one of the comments to her post: "Madami akong alam. At ang usapan dito hindi utang na loob or kung ano man. Lahat ng pangit na salita ay blocked at deleted. Dun tayo sa totoo. Wala silang alam sa alam ko. Truth hurts?"
Netizens express mixed reaction on AiAi delas Alas claims
'AiAi' trended on microblogging site Twitter Saturday morning as netizens expressed their reactions on the issue.
"Parang hindi galing sa Star Cinema halos mga blockbuster movies ni AiAi delas Alas noh? Andami kaya sequel ng Tanging-Ina nya. #MedyoIngrata," Twitter user Miss Krizzy said.
"Sadly these people cannot accept defeat. Aiai cannot accept she's no longer in her prime. Feeling entitled. Ingrata," user asgoodasitgets commented.
"AiAi - a person who can't accept defeat! #AiAiZone," IG: @imthebunnykid told.
"AiAi is clearly UNDERESTIMATING Vice, Coco, JaDine and their fans!," a certain Nora Calderon @rosebonita69 said.
"I hope AiAi will soon wake up from her delusions. My Bebe Love is a trashy movie, like Beauty and the Bestie, only the latter's better," Schizodick expressed.
"AiAi just accept the truth that Star Cinema produces the best movies rather than GMA. Which by the way nakinabang ka, always remember that," user Jaz Pulumbarit Nazar said.
"Very well said Ms. AiAi. Ang suporta ng Buong ADN ay nasayo! On the day that they did ticket swapping they already lost their credibility!," Kath Bonoan said.
'Beauty and the Bestie' is no. 1 MMFF 2015 film?
Comedian Vice Ganda, who co-stars with Coco Martin and the JaDine (James Reid and Nadine Lustre) in the movie, tweeted on January 2: “300Million THANKS to you Madlang People for making us number 1 in your hearts."
A TV Patrol report also said that "Beauty and the Bestie" beaten "My Bebe Love" in box office due to good reception on the film through 'word of mouth.'
The Star Cinema movie has reached P428 million, as announced by its Ad Prom director Roxy Liquigan on Friday, January 8.
"It remains one of the the Top 4 grossers of the 41st MMFF, as seen in the list that they released also today. The eight film entries have collectively earned P1.020 billion from December 25 to January 7, surpassing last year's record of P1.014 billion," Star Cinema reported.
Liquigan also responded to AiAi sentiments.
AiAi on My Bebe Love: "Number one kami."
