It is used to give support to someone.<br /><br />While these three are the top frequently used reverse words nowadays, some other notable slang terms are <i>‘Orb’ </i>for<i> ‘Bro’, ‘Rapsa’ </i>for <i>‘Sarap’</i> or delicious, and <i>‘Matsala’ </i>for<i> ‘Salamat’</i> or thanks.<br /><br />Now that we’ve got the meanings out of the way, why exactly are these so trending today? Where in the world did these terms emerge from?<br /><br /><b>Root of the Trend</b><br /><br />It all started within the Facebook group called <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1904883646400308" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">What’s Your Ulam, Pare (WYUP)</a>. As their description states, they are a group focused on daily food experiences. Members mainly post photos of their food-for-the-day which ranges from picturesque gourmet dishes to plainly silly ones snapped for comedic purposes. <br /><br />They started seven months ago, but only gained much online traction when the millennial members started to very much appreciate the slang terms used by the older members. Words like <i>lodi, petmalu, </i>and<i> werpa</i> flooded the comments sections. In the comments section, another user added that it goes beyond the 90s. As a study by Luke Strongman points out, identity is created from language to adapt to different situations. This trend is no exception, as some millennials find amusement in expressing themselves through saying these new colloquial terms.<br /><br />Whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing depends on each person. They presented a performance worthy to be applauded. Karylle once described Magpasikat as “testing one’s limit.”<br /><br />The performance began with a skit that shows a cockroach’s hugot on love. Much to everyone’s surprise, Jhong came on stage in a cockroach costume. Karylle showdowns as a sexy beautiful caterpillar. Everyone was in awe in a love story performance between the beautiful caterpillar and lowly cockroach. They even had spiders as villains. Jhong also spoofed the other teams’ performance. It had the perfect mix of drama, music, acting and comedy.<br /><div id="unruly-unit"></div><br />Complete with artful backdrops, their singing prowess and acting chops, they presented a theatrical play that was just beautiful to watch. <br /><br />The hurados all felt the message of the performance. Direk Rory was almost speechless saying “napanga-nga talaga ako.” Ina Raymundo and Marc Logan was nothing but all praises for the talents of Jhong, Karylle and even the rest of the Hashtags and GirlTrends dancers.
