Caitie’s wedding-inspired service complete with stormtroopers, confetti, pink balloons and colorful decorations was her parents Jayjay and Feliz’s way of turning over their daughter to Jesus in marriage. <br /><br />The memorial service led by Christ’s Commission Fellowship Pastor Roy Felipe started at 3pm, while the cremation process happened at  4:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Hall in Quezon City. The “wedding reception” was held at 7:30 pm.<br /><br />In one of the posts in the Facebook page Courageous Caitie, it was written:<br /><br />“We didn’t wait till she was a teenager for our mom and daughter or father and daughter dates. Didn’t wait till she was old enough to attend dance classes etc. We didn’t wait for a wedding to have her ‘dirty dancing’ lift (in a) father-daughter dance. We didn’t wait when she was old enough to travel the world. Thank you Lord for the grace that in 3 years we lived what was like 30 years. Her body was 3 but her soul lived like it was 30 years old in experience, in wisdom and beauty. The memorial chapel was fully decorated with colorful designs and was transformed into a children party themed ambience. The family wanted the memorial service to be a happy and fun-filled event in memoriam of Caitie. The visitors were encouraged to wear cartoony or colorful bandaids to commemorate the little one’s bravery while she was on her sick bed. Feliz, during her eulogy, narrated that Caitie’s last words before she left was all about Jesus’ love for her and love for others. They even sang little miss’ favorite kids’ church songs on her death bed and that’s why her parents taught the the crowd Caitie’s favorite songs with matching actions during the memorial service like they were in kids’ church, praising and worshiping.<br /><br />People from different parts of the nation came to see Courageous Caitie for the very last time. Couple of months ago, a law has been passed and signed giving all patients with rare diseases priority and financial assistance. Sadly, Caitie, the couple’s lovely angel passed away.<br /><br />It started late last year when Feliz recognized small insect bites in Caitie’s skin that eventually turned into bruises. Her parents had brought her into several skin specialists but all of them ruled her case as skin infections. <br /><br />Days gone by and the insect bites-turned bruises spread and got bigger. JayJay and Feliz were so worried and had decided to bring Little Caitie to well-known and arguably the best hospitals in the country to seek for further medical opinions. Caitie had been transferred from one hospital to another as the teams of doctors who were attending on her medical needs continued to dig in deep in search for the root cause of her ill condition. But even the best physicians in the archipelago had no clue and answer in the 3-year-old’s case.<br /><br />With almost couple of months of stay in the popular hospitals and with millions of pesos spent on bills and medicines, Mr. and Mrs. Lucas finally settled to fly their little miss to Singapore and hoping to see some light on their princess’ mystery disease.<br /><br />At last, with the use of better and more modern facilities in the hospital that they checked in, the Singaporean group of doctors had found what was wrong with Caitie. The little girl’s sickness is called juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML), a very rare form of leukemia where only one person out of a million acquires it. JMML commonly attacks infants and children.<br /><br />Upon knowing the diagnosis of Catie’s condition, friends of her family joined efforts to cheer them up and give encouragements especially to the adorable toddler. Thus, the moniker “Courageous Caitie” was born as a tribute to the Little Warrior’s unbelievable display of faith and hope despite of innumerable blood extractions, punctures, surgeries and tubes and wires attached all over her body.<br /><br />Even though seriously ill, Courageous Caitie defied all the troubles and pain. There are plenty of tests and procedures that the patient must endure and aside from those things, money is really an issue. The friends of Caitie’s family initiated various kinds of fund raisers to support her mounting medical bills.<br /><br />But morning of March 31st, her condition became critical and her oxygen level depleted. Keep on believing. Keep on praying are the lessons that we have learned from our young hero. Prayers and words of encouragement overwhelmed Courageous Catie’s Facebook page which only means that she was loved and admired by everyone.<br /><br />Caitie’s body will be flown back to Philippines on Friday night for her funeral.
