MANILA, Philippines - Classes are suspended in some areas on Monday, January 15, 2018 due to the inclement weather brought by the Tail-End of a Cold Front.

Mayor Cristina Gonzalez Romualdez signed an Executive Order for the temporary suspension of classes in all levels, public and private schools, in Tacloban City citing security and safety of the students.

The announcement is in relation to the issued heavy rainfall warning of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC)over Visayas. Possible landslides and flashfloods in Tacloban are also forecasted.


A public advisory was also released for the force evacuation of families near the landslide prone areas. On Saturday, Romualdez said a body was recovered while three are still missing after several houses were buried due to landslides. Search, rescue and recovery operations continue.
