MANILA, Philippines – With just a day remaining for Gilas Pilipinas in facing Team Japan in the FIBA World Qualifier opener, Head Coach Chot Reyes has finally revealed his 12-man line-up in Tokyo Japan on Thursday morning, November 23, 2017.
Alongside with naturalized bigman Andray Blatche who just joined the team few days ago, mainstays: Jayson Castro William, June Mar Fajardo, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Calvin Abueva, Allein Maliksi, Roger Pogoy,, Matthew Wright and Troy Rosario. Newcomers Rookie Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas also made the final cut.
Shooter Carl Bryan Cruz, Gilas cadet Mac Belo and center Raymond Almazan didn’t make the official lineup and were assigned to the reserve list. Almazan however still nurses a sprained ankle which he sustained in a practice recently.
Asia’s Golden Boy and Scoring Champion Terrence Romeo missed the selection as the Globalport Guard is also suffering from an injury. Romeo hasn’t showed up in any practices and tune-up games since the national squad started the training camp.
Gilas Pilipinas will face FIBA ranked number 50 Team Japan tomorrow, November 24 at 6:00 p.m. (Philippine Time) to be aired live by ESPN 5.
