MANILA, Philippines - The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP)–Lakas ng Bayan standard bearer Rodrigo Duterte is holding its grand rally or miting de avance to woo voters at the Luneta Park with simultaneous rallies nationwide on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

Duterte's grand rally, miting de avance at Luneta
Rodrigo Duterte holds final rally at Rizal Park.
With the theme "Tagumpay ng Pagbabago," the presidential candidate's grand rally will cap off the 90-day campaign period before the general elections on Monday, May 9.

Duterte's miting de avance will be held in front of the Quirino grandstand and scheduled at 5 pm. Participants were encouraged to wear red to show support to the survey front-runner.

Simultaneous rallies all over the country were also mounted in Davao, Cebu, Butuan and Iligan.

On Friday, Duterte’s spokesman Peter Laviña took to social media to hit the current administration and Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas for allegedly sabotaging the venue.

“Noy and Mar are so petty. They brought in backhoes to dig up Luneta so it would not be of any use in our rally,” Laviña said on his Facebook account.

Rizal Park officials said they were only removing the asphalt from the Burnham green of Rizal Park and have no intention of sabotaging or disrupting Duterte’s miting de avance.

Dramatic campaign ends with scramble to stop Duterte

Administration candidate Mar Roxas shocked supporters on Friday when he called for "unity" with Sen. Grace Poe, with whom he was statistically tied in the recent surveys. Though Poe said she would not drop her candidacy for Roxas but was open to a meeting.

President Benigno Aquino claimed that Duterte had the makings of a dictator. In order to beat the mayor's 33% score in SWS polls, unity of Poe (with 22%) and Roxas (20%) camp is crucial.

“The whole point is to get even two of them unite... then we have more than 40 percent,” Aquino said in an interview of ABS-CBN.
