Global FC wins 3rd UFL Championship, to compete in AFC Cup 2017

Photo Courtesy: Mark Marte/Smile 8</td></tr></tbody></table>Midfielder Misagh Bahadoran scored 2 goals for the team on the 21st and 56th minute, while Matthew Hartmann scored one other goal on the 24th minute.  Ceres FC scored 1 goal.  Bahadoran was also named Man of the Match. <br /><br />GLOBAL FC which was founded in year 2000 and was described in AFC Quarterly’s July 2015 issue as “One of the leading sides in the Philippines and pioneers in football’s fast-growing development in the archipelago”,  can now add in its long list of achievements 3 UFL League Championships for 2012, 2014 and now, 2016. <br /><br />It was also the first Filipino Club to qualify for both the AFC President’s Cup in 2012 and the AFC Cup in 2015.  And of late, because of the recent UFL 2016 Championship, the team also now has an automatic slot for the upcoming AFC Cup for 2017.<br /><br />Coach Leigh Manson in an interview said, “the moment is a little bit of a buzz because winning the UFL Cup is great, but to know as well that we are going back to the AFC Cup is really, really exciting. While midfielder Louis Serge Kaole, scored the next goal for the team.  Kaole was also declared Man of the Match.<br /><br />In an interview after the match, Coach Leigh Manson said, “We scored 2, we kept a clean sheet, and the boys are off to another fight.  And that’s where we always aspired to be at Global, to be at the Finals of UFL.  I’m very proud of the boys, they gave their 100% to get us there. GLOBAL FC players Milan Nikolic and Matthew Hartmann scored 1 goal each. <br /><br />Coach Leigh Manson predicted it right when he said after the Loyola win that, “In a game wherein Azkals play against other Azkals, nobody wants to lose that game.”<br /><br />Azkals players from GLOBAL FC Misagh Bahadoran, Daisuke Sato, Dennis Villanueva, Amani Aguinaldo and Patrick Deyto went against Ceres’ Stephan Schrock, Martin Steuble, Patrick Reichelt, Manny Ott and Kevin Ingreso.<br /><br />“We are continuing to have a formula and a plan that works for the team.  The players know their jobs when they go out, they also know what we expect from them.  You know with these last 2 games it wasn’t just about the technical abilities, it is about heart”, Coach Leigh Manson says. <br /><br />Manson continues, “Our chances are good as anybody now. Photo Credit: UFL</td></tr></tbody></table>Loyola Meralco Sparks FC saw a formidable opponent in GLOBAL FC last Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium as GLOBAL FC blanked Loyola FC, with a 2-0 score. <br /><br />The Saturday night crowd at Rizal Memorial Stadium saw players Omid Nazari and Arthur Kouassi contributing 1 goal each in behalf of the Leyte-based team.<br /><br />First goal was by Arthur Kouassi, during the 42nd minute of the first half of the match, while the 2nd goal taking place at the 2nd half of the match.<br /><br />Omid Nazari, who became a marked man after his hat trick during GLOBAL FC’s UFL opening game against Pasargad FC, was named Man of the Match.<br /><br /><b>WATCH: 2016 UFL Cup Highlights - Loyola Meralco Sparks FC vs Global FC (HD Video)</b><br /><br /><center><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5FasbSywd00" width="560"></iframe></center><br />Coach Leigh Manson says,“On Thursday we will have the Ceres game, which is obviously the most challenging among the recent games we’ve had. But when we play against each other, I think you’ll find that the teams lift themselves because there’ll be a lot of Azkals players, playing against each other, they know each other very well and nobody wants to lose that game.”<br /><br />“GLOBAL FC fans are also encouraged to root for their team this Thursday, March 3.
