MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a magnitude 5.6 earthquake that hit parts of Metro Manila and Luzon on Saturday afternoon, April 8, 2017.

The exact time of occurrence was recorded at 03:13.00 p.m. with epicenter at 13.76°N, 120.92°E - 002 km N 68° W of Mabini (Batangas).

The earthquake that occurred has a tectonic origin with 4 km depth of focus.

Earthquake Phivolcs

Followers of The Summit Express said they felt the earthquake in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon.


There is no expected damage after the quake but Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.

On April 4, magnitude 5.5 quake was also jolted Metro Manila and Luzon areas with series of aftershocks and damages reported.
