MANILA, Philippines- The sudden passing of blockbuster director Wenn Deramas has certainly left a big void in the entertainment industry.
Deramas, 49, succumbed to cardiac arrest on Monday, February 29 at the emergency room of Capitol Medical Center at around 2 a.m. According to his friend and manager June Rufino, Deramas suffered a cardiac arrest 3 hours after his sibling was pronounced dead at the same hospital.
The director almost had a heart attack in 2014 and underwent angioplasty in 2015. His death, according to Rufino, came as a surprise since Deramas fully recovered from the medical procedure.
The respected director’s death has shocked the whole nation yet several netizens pointed out that his social media posts are premonitions of his death.
A day before his passing, the “Beauty and the Bestie” director wrote a lengthy post on his Facebook account. In the said post, he recounted the death of his mother in 2009 and expressed his gratitude to Rufino, who was celebrating her birthday at that time. Netizens speculated that it was Deramas’s way of saying goodbye to his friend.
Moreover, in his Instagram post about a month ago, Deramas posted a sneak preview of his book set to be launched on the first week of March. Deramas disclosed in his previous interview that it took him one-and-a-half years to finish writing his autobiography.
In the caption of the post, he wrote: “Ngayong first week na ng March ang labas! Sure na!”
His last conversation with comedian Vice Ganda, whom he had worked in several successful projects, might also be an omen of his untimely passing. In his interview with TV Patrol, Vice Ganda revealed that he and Deramas had been talking about flowers for the past few days.
