MANILA, Philippines - The alleged abduction of 2 year-old girl inside a shopping mall in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Friday, January 8 was caught on a CCTV video.
In the footage, the victim identified as Saphire Claire Ampad Alde of Purok 6, Barangay Tagapo, was seen taken by a young woman wearing a white shirt and a blue school uniform skirt.
According to the victim’s 27-year-old father Jason Alde, the incident took place inside an amusement center in a shopping mall. The child’s 21-year-old mother April Rose Ampad, who was present during the incident, didn’t assume that the young woman playing with Saphire would take her.
In a report by Tempo, Ampad said that Saphire had gone missing shortly after she and her cousins left her playing alone in the horse station in the amusement center.
The young woman was seen leading the toddler out of the establishment in the CCTV footage.
Alde told GMA News: “Nung nagpupumiglas po yung anak ko, inabutan niya ng candy tapos tumahimik na po yung anak ko. Hindi na po pumapalag. “
(When my daughter was trying to resist her, she gave her candy that pacified my child. My child didn’t resist anymore.)
He added: “Alam ko naiyak ang anak ko kasi hindi po nadede sa bottle yun eh,sa nanay niya lang po nadede yun eh.”
(I know that my child is crying now because she’s not used to drinking milk from the bottle as she is breastfed).
Abducted toddler now recovered
A certain Ronalyn Bascon Amoroto revealed on Facebook that Saphire had been recovered from her abudctor with the help of social media. Amoroto didn’t disclose the details on how Saphire was recovered but disclosed that someone saw and returned the child to her family. The post was made on Monday, January 12.
