PGT: Robin Padilla reacts to 'racist, rude' criticisms forcing Korean to speak Tagalog

MANILA, Philippines - Veteran actor Robin Padilla has responded to 'racist and rude' criticisms after he obliged the Korean contestant of Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 6 to speak Tagalog during the audition episode aired on Saturday.

Padilla was slammed online after South Korean Jiwan Kim, 20, who's living for several years in the country was allegedly shamed by the actor. Netizens pointed out that Filipinos who are joining talent contests in other countries are being treated fairly.

In an Instagram post, Padilla claridied that "Filipino Hospitality is far different from slavery and stupidity..."

"Mahalin mo ang bayan mo at ang lahi mo lalo ang wika mo bago ang lahi at wika at bayan ng dayuhan," he said.

"Always Fight for your freedom to gain respect never allow a foreign power to intimidate you in your country just because they are rich," Padilla added.

In the end of the post, he emphasized: "Be a proud Filipino!!! Mabuhay ang lahing kayumanggi!! Mabuhay ang Tagalog Republic!!!"


Meanwhile, PGT judge Vice Ganda has similar views with Padilla.

"It is your social obligation to learn the language of the Philippines since you're living the country for many years now," Vice told Jiwan.

Despite the language conflict, Padilla sincerely apologized and voted 'yes' for Jiwan. Vice Ganda and Angel Locsin also gave him a green light to proceed to the next level of the competition. Judge Freddie M. Garcia (FMG) was not convinced on his performance.

Judge Angel Locsin commented: "Napakahirap ng ginawa mo."

When asked by Locsin why he auditioned on PGT, the 26-year-old pole dancer from Quezon City revealed he is hoping for the show to be his stepping stone in joining Cirque du Soleil, the largest theatrical producer in the world.

"Dream ko po na maging part ng Cirque du Soleil pero gusto nila face to face audition. Hindi man ako nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral pero nagpapasalamat ako sa talent ko dahil eto ang naging source of income ko para makatulong sa family ko," Villanueva added.

"Pag ginagawa talaga na galing sa puso, walang imposible. Pinakita mo sa amin ngayon yun," judge Robin Padilla said.

"Ang pole dancing kasi parang buhay, kapag nahawakan mo na wag mo nang pakawalan at baka makuha pa ng iba," Vice Ganda joked.

Villanueva received four yeses from the judges.

Unfortunately, judge Robin Padilla refused Jiwan's request to assist him in the card tricks performance. The actor wanted him to speak Tagalog emphasizing that the show is "Pilipinas Got Talent" and the contestants must learn the local language.

As the tention heats up, Locsin immediately gave assistance to Jiwan. This simple act earned admiration from the fans and viewers of the hit show.




Meanwhile, Padilla trended on Twitter as netizens said he is rude and racist on his remarks.
