VIDEO: NU Pep Squad Cheerdance Competition CDC 2017 performance

MANILA, Philippines - The National University (NU) Pep Squad is ALL OUT ON 5 seeking for their fifth straight title in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Cheerdance Competition this Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The reigning champions are trying to make history of joining the elite club of five-peat winners. Only University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe holds the record after winning from 2002 to 2006.

The Sampaloc-based squad, which holds the most convincing win in the UAAP history, performs first in the competition.

NU is once again out to put on a fantastic show to wow the audience and the judges.

The Bulldogs will try to break the curse as no team has ever won the CDC title performing first.

This year, the dogs are diving under the blue ocean water.

“Siguro ‘yung concept namin ngayon, every year naming nagiging idea pero hindi natutuloy. Siguro kasi hindi pa niya panahon,” said NU coach Ghicka Bernabe. “So siguro dumating na ang time niya. Ito na ang right timing, ang tamang panahon.”

VIDEO: UP Pep Squad Cheerdance Competition CDC 2017 performance

MANILA, Philippines - All eyes on University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad this Saturday, December 2, as the country's national university returns to the UAAP Cheer Dance Competition after a one-year absence.

The eight time winner of the competition will try to regain the supremacy the National University (NU) Pep Squad had mastered in the past four years.

Last year, the famous squad did not appear on CDC stage following a controversial result in 2015. Instead, UP competed in the Asian Cheerleading and Dancesport Competition.

“Last year, ‘di sumali yung UP because we were questioning some parts of the rules that were left unanswered. We really wanted an answer not because we wanted to prove something, but because we wanted to clarify things,” assistant coach Pio Opinaldo told ABS-CBN Sports.

As UP returns in the tournament, they expect a tight battle with NU Pep Squad, FEU Cheering Squad, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe and the Adamson Pep Squad.

MANILA, Philippines - The most anticipated UAAP Season 80's Cheerdance Competition (CDC) is happening today, December 2, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Check out on this page for the live updates and results of the annual one-day event.

CONTINUE DOMINANCE OR REGAIN CDC TITLE? Eight UAAP-member schools vie for the top spot.

Eight UAAP-member schools battle to win the hearts of judges and viewers in the jampacked venue. The Top 3 cheerdance teams are announced at the end of the competition.

Reigning champion and gunning for the 5-peat, the National University (NU) Pep Squad performs first.

Next are the performances from the De La Salle University (DLSU) Animo squad, Adamson Pep Squad, Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad and University of the East Pep Squad.

Returning team, the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad, looking to regain the supremacy, will be sixth to perform.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe and Ateneo's Blue Babble Battalion will perform next.

#WalangPasok: Class suspensions on Monday, December 4, 2017

MANILA, Philippines - Several local government units declared suspension of classes for Monday, December 4, 2017 due to the possible effects of the nationwide transport strike.

On Friday, officials of Albay province and Guagua, Pampanga announced on social media the cancellation of classes for all levels that covered both the public and private institutions.

"Suspension of classes at all levels on December 4, 2017 in both private and public schools except those schools located in the island and remote/far flung barangays/areas that will be determined by the Local School Authorities," the Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) posted on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Executive Order No. 23-series of 2017 of the Municipality of Guagua, Pampanga stated that there will be no suspension of work in the municipal office. In addition, "all available municipal government vehicles including barangay service vehicles will be used to serve and pick-up stranded commuters. Both color and number coding are temporarily suspended for all passenger motorcycles on the duration of transport strike."

Note: As the need arises, announcement for the suspension of classes for the second day of strike, December 5, 2017 will be released Monday afternoon.

The protest of the militant group Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) on December 4 and 5 is to oppose the implementation of the government’s jeepney modernization program.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that public utility vehicles (PUVs) that are more than 15 years old will be banned from the road, and will be replaced by vehicles with "low-carbon and low-emission technology."

"The jeepney phase out is just one way for President Duterte to appeal himself to foreign and local capitalists. It has no other objective than for a few corporations to monopolize [the jeepney industry],” George San Mateo, PISTON’s national president said.

Stop and Go Transport Coalition President Jun Magno said that drivers and operators could not shoulder the P1.6-million loan for new jeepney units and daily amortization of P800.

The coalition proposed for the rehabilitation of old jeepneys instead of acquiring new units.

In October, the militant groups led a two-day strike, which caused Malacañang to suspend government work and classes nationwide.

MANILA, Philippines - The UAAP Season 80 Cheerdance Competition (CDC) happens this Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Eight member schools are now on fire to give their loudest cheer for the fans and viewers of the 23-year-old sporting event.

With the CDC craze just around the corner, fans will witness how determined the National University (NU) Pep Squad is to earn a five-peat and a history of finally sitting beside UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe in the elite club of five-peat winners.

The NUP Pep Squad, which holds the most convincing win in the UAAP history, will perform first in the competition. The Sampaloc-based group will try to break the curse as no team has ever won the CDC title performing first. This year, the dogs are diving under the blue ocean water.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad, which holds the most number of podium finishes in CDC, returns after their leave of absence last year due to protest.

UP Pep Squad will take center stage after the performances of De La Salle University (DLSU) Animo squad, Adamson Pep Squad, Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad and University of the East Pep Squad.

University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe and Ateneo's Blue Babble Battalion will perform next.

Aside from UP, the 'Salinggawi' squad is gunning to reclaim their long-lost throne in the UAAP CDC.

MANILA, Philippines - Two of the most anticipated movies this December as part of the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) are Coco Martin’s “Ang Panday” and Vice Ganda’s “The Revengers Squad.”

Both have just released their full trailers and netizens can’t help but be excited.

This is Coco Martin’s directorial debut, he had promised to give “justice” to the epic film. Based on the action film by Carlo J. Caparas, Coco also acts as the lead star. In the 2017 version, Coco plays as Flavio III the grandson of the original Panday. Upon discovering the story of his legendary bloodline, Flavio III goes on a journey to find the legendary sword. Flavio fights his archnemesis Lizardo (Jake Cuenca) to save to world.

Distributed by Star Cinema, it also casts beauty queens Kylie Verzosa, Mariel de Leon, and Awra Briguela with actor veterans Gloria Romero and Jaime Fabregas.

Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad

The Unkabogable Phenomenal Box Office star, Vice Ganda is now back with another movie perfect for the entire family.

The Revenger Squad is an action comedy superhero film by Direk Joyce Bernal. Bernal is also the director responsible for the hit movie The Parental Guardians last year. Aside from Vice Ganda, the Revengers Squad also stars Daniel Padilla and beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach. They are also joined by Karla Estrada, Ejay Falcon, Loisa Andalio, RK Bagatsing and a whole cast of comedians.

The movie centers around the adventures of super heroes Kweenie ( Pia Wurtzbach), Rapiddo, (Daniel Padilla) and Gandarra ( Vice Ganda).

Family of 4 killed after 10-wheeler sugar cane truck falls on car

A family of four met a tragic accident on Thursday afternoon, November 30 at the national highway of Hacienda Remy in Bago City, Negros Occidental. A 10-wheeler truck filled with sugar cane fell on their car, killing all the passengers, including a four-year-old boy.

The passengers were identified to be Romulo Espinosa, 59, wife Josephine, 53, their daughter Christine Sarcia, 31 and her son Vincent John, 4.

The family were on their way to La Carlota City when they met the accident around 1:30 in the afternoon. Upon investigation, Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station said that the approaching 10-wheeler truck swerved on the car’s lane. The driver of the truck Herman Mahometano, 58 lost control of the truck until it fell on its side and hit the car.

The car was in total wreck and it took 30 minutes for the rescuers to retrieve the bodies. They had to request for a crane from a construction company to move the truck.

Trigue added that Mahometano was unharmed but tried to escape. He eventually surrendered and is now detained at the police station. He may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide.
