MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang Palace has declared class and work suspensions for March 17, 18, 22, 2016 in some areas of Luzon and Mindanao.

Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr., Executive Secretary, by authority of President Benigno Aquino III announced that March 17 (Thursday) will be additional holiday in the City of Davao for the celebration of its “Araw ng Pasasalamat” based on proclamation no. 1234.

Ochoa also announced proclamation no. 1237 declaring special non-working holiday in the province of Masbate for its 115th Foundation Day on March 18 (Friday).

"It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Masbate be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies," the proclamation stated.

In addition, proclamation no. 1231 declared March 22 (Tuesday) as special holiday in the province of Cavite for the celebration of the birth anniversary of General Emilio Aguinaldo, the first President of the Republic of the Philippines.

On Friday, March 11, Ochoa also announced class and work suspensions in Antipolo for its 18th cityhood anniversary celebration.

Grace Poe claims top spot in latest Pulse Asia survey

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Grace Poe emerged as the top presidential choice in the survey conducted two days before the Supreme Court made its landmark ruling allowing Poe to run for president in the upcoming presidential election.

The survey commissioned by ABS-CBN conducted from March 1 to 6 involved 2,600 respondents.

Poe is now on solo lead with 28 percent of the votes, while Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte remains at second place with 24%.

Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay plunged by three points to 21 percent. Binay shared the lead with Poe in Pulse Asia’s Feb. 16 to 27 survey. Currently in statistical tie at third place with Binay is former DILG chief Manuel “Mar” Roxas III with 20 percent. Santiago only garnered 3% of the votes.

Poe also topped the second choice presidential preference getting 29% of the votes. Binay placed 2nd with 21%, while Duterte and Roxas tied at third place with 14%.

Poe’s running mate Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero emerged as the top choice in the race for vice presidency with 25%. Escudero is still in statistical tie with Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. with 22%.

Camarines Sur congresswoman Leni Robredo ranked second with 21%, while Senator Alan Peter Cayetano placed third with 14%. Senator Antonio Trillanes and Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan had 6% and 5% of the votes, respectively.

Among the senatorial candidates who made it to the Magic 12 are Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senate President Franklin Drilon, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Ralph Recto, former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senator Sergio Osmeña III, former Sen. Richard Gordon, former Rep. Risa Hontiveros, Congressman Manny Pacquiao, and former Justice Secretary Leila De Lima.

Top performing schools, performance of schools Medtech board exam March 2016

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially announced on Tuesday that 2,046 out of 2,596 (78.81%) passed the Medical Technologist (Medtech) Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medical Technology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao this March 2016.

PRC named Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP), Cagayan State University - Andrews Campus and University of Baguio (UB) as the performing schools in the March 2016 medtech board exam as per Commission Resolution No. 2010-547 series of 2010. These schools got 100 percent passing rate.

Centro Escolar University (CEU) - Makati placed second with 97.01% passing rate.

Top 10 Passers: CEU grad tops March 2016 Medtech board exam

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially released on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, the complete list of passers for Medical Technologist (Medtech) board exam. Jhamaica Emmyrose Ferrer Aboy from Centro Escolar University (CEU) - Manila topped the board with 90.60 percent grade.

Lorma College graduate Marc Jay Gagarin Lakay ranked second with 90.20 average grade.
