After an announcement fiasco, Miss Philippines takes home Miss Universe crown

MANILA, Philippines- Following a “horrible” mistake committed by host Steve Harvey, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe 2015 on Monday, December 21 (Manila time) at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

A moment of awkwardness enveloped the pageant venue as Harvey mistakenly named Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner of the prestigious beauty contest and Wurtzbach as the first runner-up.

Harvey, an American comedian and an Emmy award-winning TV personality quickly apologized for his mistake. The organizers of the pageant even showed the result card from Ernst and Young to the audience.

WATCH: Miss Universe 2015 Livestream video now available

MANILA, Philippines - Eighty contestants face off for the ultimate prize, the Miss Universe 2015 title in the grand coronation night to be held at the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort and Casino, USA on Sunday, December 20 (Monday, December 21 in Manila).

Watch the official livestream video of the 64th Miss Universe beauty pageant and support Miss Universe Philippines bet Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. The live stream will start at 8:00 a.m.


Several blogs and websites are also expected to provide livestream feed and live updates for the Pinoys around the world to witness the annual competition in real-time.

In the Philippines, the 2015 Miss Universe pageant can be watched live on Lifestyle (SkyCable channel 52) at 8 a.m and will have delayed telecast on ABS-CBN Channel 2 at 8:30 in the morning.

The winner will be crowned at around 11 a.m. or after the 3-hour broadcast.

NNOTES: For the first time ever, fans worldwide will also have a say in who gets crowned MISS UNIVERSE. Viewers will score each contestant on a scale of one to ten in swimsuit, evening gown, and interview. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to submit a final question through Facebook which will be asked to one contestant in the interview portion.

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach to win Miss Universe 2015 crown?

The 26-year-old Pinay beauty Pia rocked the pageant’s preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competitions held recently in Las Vegas.


Pia is very determined to bring back the crown to the Philippines and become the third Filipina crowned as Miss Universe.

The closest the country had been to winning the pageant in recent years was in 2012 when Pinay contender Janine Tugonon finished 1st runner up to USA’s Olivia Culpo.

Miss Universe 2014, Paulina Vega, will pass on the crown to her successor.

Don't miss the coronation night of Miss Universe 2015 on Monday. It will be hosted by Emmy winner Steve Harvey and Rush Hour 2 actress Roselyn Sanchez.
