San Miguel Beer wins 1st PBA Philippine Cup crown in 14 years

MANILA, Philippines - The San Miguel Beermen won the PBA Philippine Cup championship crown against Alaska Aces, 80-78 in the do-or-die Game 7 match on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermen achieved elusive 20th title and first Philippine Cup crown in 14 years. It's the first PBA title under SMB coach Leo Austria.

PBA named Arwind Santos as this season's best player for having 22 pounts, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.


The athletic forward was also the Finals MVP in San Miguel's last title in the 2011 Governors' Cup, then as the Petron Blaze Boosters.

Santos together with June Mar Fajardo lead heroic efforts to claim the PBA title. The duo combined for 27 points in the first two quarters to bury the Aces in a 21-point hole at the half.

Alaska trailed by as much as 23 points in the first half but came all the way back to lead by six points in the fourth quarter. It was San Miguel showing their heart in the end, though, as they made the big plays that eventually decided the series.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Wednesday that 1,292 out of 2,295 passed the January 2014 Pharmacist board exam given by the Board of Pharmacy in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Iloilo.

PRC named University of San Carlos (USC) as the top performing school for the recent Pharmacist board exam for obtaining 82.86% (58 out of 70 examinees hurdled the tests). Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU)- Batac ranked second with 80.68% (71 out of 88 passed).

The top performing schools were identified based on Commission Resolution No. 2010-547 series of 2010: WITH 50 OR MORE EXAMINEES AND WITH AT LEAST 80% PASSING PERCENTAGE

The performance of schools in the January 2015 Pharmacist board examination in alphabetical order as per R.A. 8981 otherwise known as PRC Modernization Act of 2000 Section 7(m) "To monitor the performance of schools in licensure examinations and publish the results thereof in a newspaper of national circulation" is as follows:


Top 10 List: UIC Davao grad tops Pharmacist board exam January 2015

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially released today, January 21, the list of passers for January 2015 Pharmacist board exam. Jona Mari Chiong Alinas from University of the Immaculate Conception - Davao topped the board with 91.90 percent grade.

University of the Philippines (UP)- Manila graduates occupied the top 2-5 slots with Jhomel Pangilinan Sijas and Kate Angeline Gamboa Tan placed second and third respectively.
