Banking Hours Schedule Christmas Holidays 2014, New Year announced

MANILA, Philippines - Major banks in the country announced recently the banking hours schedule for Christmas holidays this 2014 and operations for New Year (first week of January 2015).

The public is being reminded that there will be only one regular banking day from December 24 until January 4. In that period, banks will only be open on December 29 as all other dates either fall on a weekend or are considered holidays.

Banco de Oro (BDO) Bank Schedule

BDO Unibank said select branches will remain open during the holidays. BDO's banking schedules from December 24, 2014 to January 2, 2015 is as follows:

Dec. 24, 26, 30 and 31 – Shortened hours for selected branches
Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2015 – All branches are closed
Dec. 27 and 28 – Regular banking day for weekend banking branches
Dec. 29 – Regular banking day for ALL branches
Jan. 2, 2015 – Shortened hours for selected branches
Jan. 3 - 4, 2015 - Regular banking day for weekend banking branches


BDO advised that ATM network will be able to handle transactions of clients during this period.


Philippine National Bank (PNB) Bank Schedule

On its Facebook page, PNB said that they are OPEN on December 24 to 31, 2014 and January 1 to 4, 2015.



Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Bank Schedule

On its Twitter post, BPI announced that selected BPI and BPI Family Savings Bank branches will be open on December 24 (half day) & the whole day of December 30 and January 3, 2015.

Mall branches and kiosks with Saturday and/or Sunday operations will also be open during the holiday weekends.

Transactions that may be processed on these days are deposits, withdrawals, bills payments, buying and selling for foreign exchange, purchase of MC's, and account openings.

Remittances from abroad will undergo same-day processing as usual, except on December 25 and January 1.

BPI and BPI Family clients may also transact using the banks' ATM, internet, mobile and phone banking channels (89-100) during the holidays.

While these electronic banking channels and selected branches are available to clients, we encourage the public to complete all banking transactions ahead of the holidays to avoid the Christmas rush.


Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) Bank Schedule

RCBC and RCBC Savings Bank said they are open on December 24, 26, 30, 31, and January 2. View the complete banking schedule here.


Chinabank Bank Schedule

Some Chinabank branches are open during holidays for December 24, 26, 30 and 31 and January 2, 2015. For the list of branches open this holiday season, visit here.


Security Bank Schedule

Security Bank said a few of its branches will open during the long Christmas break. In an advisory, Security Bank said some branches will be open on December 27 and January 3, even if these are Saturdays. View the list of branches and banking hours here.


Philippine Bank of Communications (PBCOM)

Philippine Bank of Communications (PBCOM) said all of its branches will have extended banking hours on December 23 and 29, 2014.

The bank said all branches will be open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 and Monday, December 29, 2014.

All PBCOM branches will be closed during the following declared holidays: December 24, 25, 26, 30 & 31, 2014 and January 1 & 2, 2015.

Metrobank

Select Metrobank branches across the country will be open on weekends (December 27,28; January 3, 4) and during the holidays (December 24, 26,30 31; January 2) to accommodate over-the-counter transactions. LRT, MRT schedule Christmas Holidays 2014, New Year released

MANILA, Philippines - LRT and MRT schedule have been released for December 24, 25, 31, 2014 (Christmas Holidays) and Jan 1, 2015 (New Year) operations. LRT/MRT Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera on his Twitter account announced LRT 1 and 2 and MRT3 train schedules.

Cabrera said that on December 24 and December 31, the last train for MRT-3 which serves close to 540,000 passengers a day will leave North Avenue station at 8:30 p.m., and Taft Avenue station at 9:14 p.m.

Meanwhile, on December 25 and January 1, the first train will leave North Avenue station at 6:30 a.m., and Taft Avenue station at 7:10 a.m.


The last trains of the LRT 1 will leave Baclaran and Roosevelt stations at 8:00 p.m. on December 24, while the last trip would be at 7:00 p.m. on December 31.

The LRT1 is the oldest mass transit system in Southeast Asia that runs from Baclaran in ParaƱaque City to Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City.

Cabrera also announced shortened operations for LRT2. The last train on December 24 leaves Santolan at 8:00 p.m. while the Recto train leaves at 8:30 p.m.

On December 31, the last trip from Santolan station is 7:00 p.m. and the last train from Recto leaves at 7:30 p.m.

Number Coding Suspension

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has lifted the number coding scheme from December 23, 2014 to January 4, 2015.

Ateneo Entrance Exam ACET results AY 2015-2016 release in January 2015

MANILA, Philippines - ACET results or decisions for the freshman applicants who took September 2014 ACET (Ateneo de Manila University College Entrance Test) for AY 2015-2016 will be posted within January 2015, on a set of boards at the ADMU Blue Eagle Gym and to be released online thereafter.

The first ACET of 2014 was conducted last September 27 and 28 in Manila and provincial testing centers nationwide.

On Saturday, December 20, 2014, ADMU officially announced that Decisions on Applications for Admission and Scholarship will be released in January 2015. The Office of Admission and Aid (OAA) is closed from December 21, 2014 (Sunday) until January 4, 2015 (Sunday).

In addition, Ateneo already released the list of Freshman Merit Scholars, San Ignacio de Loyola Merit Scholars, and Director's List Scholars for SY 2015-2016.

The Ateneo Freshman Merit Scholarship (AFMS) is an academic distinction awarded yearly to outstanding freshman applicants who have excelled in the Ateneo College Entrance Test, have distinguished themselves in their respective high schools, and who also show great promise for the future. This award includes a full tuition and fees grant for any undergraduate degree of the awardee's choice.

The San Ignacio de Loyola Merit Scholarship for Public High School Students (SIDL) is awarded yearly to freshman applicants from public or state-supported high schools across the country. These students must have distinguished themselves in both academic and co-curricular involvement in their respective high schools and more importantly, show the potential to become future leaders and catalysts for national development. This award includes a full tuition and fees grant for any undergraduate degree of the awardee's choice.

Meanwhile, the top 200 list known as the Director's List Scholarship Recipients was also announced. The Director's List includes students who have done very well in the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) and have distinguished themselves academically as well as in co-curricular activities in their respective high schools. The awardee shall enjoy an annual P50,000 scholarship grant for any undergraduate course of his or her choice.

ADMU said that decision letters will be mailed directly to the applicant. Please get in touch with the office if no decision is received by March 2015.

In the previous years, only around 20% of those who took the ACET passed the exam. The entrance exams last year drew around 18,000 examinees from the different high schools around the country.

The Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) is the admission test to the undergraduate program of the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University. Held usually in the month of September, ACET is definitely one of the entrance tests students look forward to every year.
